Heya Folks,
Summer is here, and Hanoi is an oven! I never imagined heat quite like this, back in cold and wet November when I arrived. Still, I am getting by, with the help of air conditioners, ice cream, fridges, cold water and ice cubes, which are my new best friends!
Meanwhile, for Hanoi's studious youngsters, the end of the school term means the start of various summer school programmes for learning English, which means that my teaching timetable has suddenly cranked up a few notches. I'm now teaching about 22 hours of classes, at 5 different centres around the city. Despite the crazy running around this inevitably involves, I am actually really enjoying the flexibility and freedom and variety of being freelance, and I'd much rather be doing this than be at one school, teaching the same kids the same thing every day. Plus, I'm getting really healthy travelling around Hanoi on my bicycle!
University holidays are also upon us, and instead of drifting around this summer, my friends from the 'Walkie Talkie' English conversation club have decided to make a short movie! I'll keep the plot under-wraps for now, but suffice to say I have been cast in a role. Here's the cast and crew getting our creative heads together. What a great way to document our memories for what is sure to be a fantastic summer 2010. And strange the places I find myself.
